Education & Training Coordinator

We currently have an opening for the position of Education & Training Coordinator, External located in the Toronto Office.  This is a one-year contract position with the possibility of renewal.

The Education and Training Coordinator, External has a primary responsibility to two streams of focus, as outlined in the Education & Training Department mandate:  industry professional and post-secondary/emerging filmmakers.  This individual holds a secondary responsibility by providing a support role to the National Manager, Education & Training with national and regional external training initiatives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and/or facilitation of all external education and training initiatives, workshops, seminars, events, learning sessions, modules, etc. targeted toward industry professionals and post-secondary/emerging filmmakers, i.e. Generator Seminar, Filmmaker Open House, Lighting & Grip Workshop, etc.
  • Assist with the development of new external training initiatives, workshops, seminars, events, learning sessions, modules, etc. targeted toward industry professionals and post-secondary/emerging filmmakers in collaboration with specific department managers, staff members, and instructors, i.e. new Camera Dept. Workshops, collaborations with unions and guilds, etc.
  • Responsible for processing participant registrations, drafting workshop budgets (to be approved by National Manager), maintaining attendance lists, and records of training.
  • Coordinator liaison for third party training initiatives: booking space, equipment, and personnel as required, i.e. CSC Lighting Workshops, non-profit organizations, unions and guilds, etc.
  • Handle all bookings for and conduct facility tours for post-secondary students and emerging filmmakers, as required.
  • Provide a support role to the National Manager, Education & Training with respect to coordination and facilitation of external training initiatives on a national level.
  • Provide assistance with social media postings and associated department PR & Marketing endeavours, which may also include attending industry networking and sponsorship events.
  • Perform all administrative duties associated with the WFW National Grants Program, including creation of grants, sponsorship agreements, etc. (all template based), while liaising with all applicable departments.
  • Designated Toronto CSR to process and handle all National Grants Program related customer orders for the Lighting & Grip Department only. Collaboration is required and responsibilities are shared between other department’s CSRs at the Toronto office. (Full software training provided)
  • Provide research and data collection assistance, as needed
  • Some physical labour required: equipment set-ups related to workshops, seminars, events, etc.
  • Occasional weekend and evening work required i.e., Filmmaker Open House, Generator Seminar, Third Party Training Initiatives, networking events, etc.
  • Other departmental and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years’ professional coordinator experience in any of the following areas: event planning / workshops / classes / on-set production / training / etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, listening and strong critical thinking skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Computer literate and experienced using Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Able to perform physical labour, lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Competence and understanding of social media websites and apps.

Preferred Assets, but not required:

  • Production experience and a familiarity with film/television production equipment and/or cameras.
  • 2-3 years teaching experience in any of the following areas: adult learning, public or secondary school system, corporate level, etc.
  • A creative sensibility applicable to graphic design.
  • Basic video capture and non-linear editing abilities (to document training sessions, if needed).

Warehouse Associate

We currently have an opening for the position of Warehouse Associate located in the Winnipeg Office.  This position reports to the Rental Coordinator/Warehouse Supervisor.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Pull orders, load, and unload trucks ensuring all counts are performed to the highest standards of accuracy.
  • Scan equipment in and out with barcoding scanners.
  • Maintain proper inventory techniques of equipment while being shipped, returned or stock within the warehouse.
  • Test Lighting & Grip Equipment making sure it complies with company standards.
  • Advise the Rental Coordinator of any equipment defects or damage.
  • Advise the Rental Coordinator of any customer concerns arising from equipment issues or counts.
  • Keep warehouse walkways clear and shelves organized.
  • Comply with Heath & Safety requirements.
  • Complete assignments and special projects delegated by management.
  • Hours of work 7:00am to 5:00pm as assigned.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • This can be a physically demanding job. Job holder will be given full training, as well as instruction in safe working practices and proper lifting techniques.
  • The successful candidate will be provided with forklift and order picker training and will be expected to operate a forklift, order picker, or pallet jack when required.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure, and to tight deadlines.
  • Must have excellent communication and numeric skills.
  • Knoweldge of motion picture equipment is an asset.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft office and related programs is an asset.
  • Some weekend work and overtime may be required.

Customer Service Representative - Whites LES Toronto

We currently have an opening at Whites LES Toronto for the full time position of Customer Service Representative.  This position reports to the Manager, Client Services, Whites LES.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Liaise with customers in the collection of all job related information including job name, production type, job dates and job contacts and entering them into the relevant system.
  • Answer incoming calls and re-direct to appropriate individuals as required.
  • Schedule all house preps – preps and wraps for all shows.
  • General office administration.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager, Rentals Desk Coordinator and other CSR’s to coordinate weekly and daily scheduling.
  • Field any customer concerns or complaints and ensure all concerns or complaints are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with other internal departments as required.
  • Order various sub rental equipment and sale items for resale.
  • Coordinate customer pick-ups or deliveries.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records within the computer system and paperwork back-up.
  • Other duties as required.

 Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, etc).
  • Knowledge of the film industry including equipment and personnel.
  • Working knowledge of RTPro would be considered an asset, however not required.
  • Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and multitasking skills.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Dolly Associate

We currently have an opening at Whites Toronto for the full time position of Dolly Associate.  This position reports to the Manager, Dolly Department.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain proper paperwork for the department; tracking all parts, serial numbers and barcodes for every rental.
  • Preparation of camera dollies to manufacturer’s specifications for upcoming rentals as well as current incoming and outgoing dollies.
  • Perform basic maintenance of camera dollies including the use of the hoist on a daily basis.
  • Perform any hydraulic or electronic repairs of dollies.
  • Perform testing of camera dollies prior to rental.
  • Advise CSR’s of problems arising due to improper use of equipment.
  • Complete Loss and Damage information paperwork and pass along to the CSR assigned to the show or department head so that proper billing procedures are followed.
  • Communicate with customers who have specific needs or questions about the use of the equipment as required.
  • Package camera dollies for shipment.
  • Clean and lubricate camera dollies.
  • Training on current and future generations of camera dolly equipment may be required from time to time.
  • Check Hydro pars for serviceability based on manufacturer’s specifications and report any defects to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Clean, service and maintain dolly track to manufacturer’s specifications. Record all defects for billing purposes and report to the appropriate CSR.
  • Act as a backup for the Manager, Dolly Department when required.
  • Operate hand pump truck, maintenance cart and overhead hoist.
  • Other duties as required.

 Qualifications:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Previous customer service experience and knowledge of all dolly parts.
  • Must be familiar with the use of power and hand tools.
  • Must be organized, punctual and self-motivated.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to the manufacturer for specific training.
  • Occasional travel to set to perform repairs / troubleshoot any dolly issues.
