Bridging the Gap Between Film Student and Filmmaker

Here at Whites, we believe in contributing to the growing community of burgeoning filmmakers.  By bridging the gap between film student and filmmaker, we hope to provide today’s content creators with the knowledge and expertise to bring their own creative visions to life.

Since 2011, we have been allowing students to come visit and learn about state-of-the-art production equipment. So far, over 1600 students have participated in Whites educational programming, including workshops, tours and our annual Student & Filmmaker Open House.

Through our National Grants Program, we support and foster the growth of new careers, by donating in-kind services to a variety of individuals and organizations across Canada such as TIFF, WIFT Vancouver, and the National Screen Institute, to name a few.

Since our launch, Whites has donated over $1,000,000.00, supported nearly 100 organizations and issued over 400 grants throughout Halifax, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver.

“I can’t emphasize enough how our students appreciate the financial support and the recognition your award bestows.  The personal and continued commitment of so many individuals to our programs and to our students is extremely gratifying.” – Alexandra Anderson, Ryerson University, Chair, School of Image Arts

A few of the organizations we have donated to, include:

  • TIFF Student Showcase
  • Fava Film Fest
  • Ryerson University
  • University of British Columbia
  • Vancouver Short Film Festival
