GREEN SCREEN TORONTO PRESENTS LED LIGHTING WORKSHOP
Monday, January 26, 2009Green Screen Toronto (www.greenscreentoronto.ca), in cooperation with Ryerson University (RTA and Image Arts) and supporting sponsors including CinequipWhite Inc., is presenting an “LED Lighting is Cool†workshop from 9:30am to 5:00pm on Saturday, February 21 at the Rogers Communication Centre, 80 Gould Street in Toronto.
The workshop will offer an overview of some current LED lighting options, explore the suitability and use of LED fixtures as stand-a-lone or integral with other types of lighting, as well as the future of LED fixtures. The key presenters will be Brad Dickson (Senior Lighting Director at CBC) and Freider Hoccheim (founder/owner of Kino Flo). As well, several DOPs with experience in using LED fixtures will participate in the hands-on workshops and panel discussion.

IT'S WASTE REDUCTION WEEK IN CANADA!
Sunday, October 19, 2008Canadas 8th annual Waste Reduction Week (WRW) is developed and run by a coalition of 13 different recycling councils and sister organizations from across the country. The program, which runs from October 19-25, urges everyone to do their part in by reducing, reusing and recycling in every aspect of their lives at home, school and work.
The Program focuses on the 3Es of the 3Rs; Education, Engagement and Empowerment. WRW aims to inform and engage Canadians about the environmental and social ramifications of wasteful practices. WRW provides information and ideas to reduce waste in all facets of daily living, creating the solution to the many environmental challenges we face including climate change, water pollution and preservation of natural resources.

RECYCLING GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
Wednesday, October 01, 2008ERA (Electronic Recycling Association) is a Vancouver based non-profit organization focusing on the re-use of computer related equipment and other electronics for charities, as well as the handling of equipment for recycling. All donated computer equipment is sorted by volunteers and, depending on its condition, is either donated to a local charity/non-profit organization or handled for recycling.
WFW is proud to be an active participant in this great program. WFW Vancouvers Jeremy Walsh & Lance Connelly, along with David Maxwell of ERA, are seen in this photo delivering some old WFW computer equipment to ERA!

Saturday, March 01, 2008 Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.
This simple act has captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world. As a result, at 8pm March 29, 2008 millions of people in some of the worlds major capital cities, including Copenhagen, Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane and Tel Aviv will unite and switch off for Earth Hour.
